Ethical Breeding at KooeeKeis Australian Cobberdogs

At KooeeKeis, ethical breeding isn’t just a buzzword — it’s the way we live and breathe every day. From the moment our puppies are born to the day they snuggle from our arms to yours, every decision we make is guided by love, responsibility, and respect for this incredible breed.

We breed small, thoughtful litters with one goal in mind — to produce healthy, happy, people-focused Cobberdogs who are perfectly suited to family life, therapy work, and everything in between.

Our Philosopy

We believe every Cobberdog deserves the very best start in life. That’s why we focus on quality, not quantity. Our breeding program is carefully planned, with each pairing chosen for health, temperament, and that unmistakable Cobberdog “soulful connection” that makes this breed so special.

Ethical dog breeders prioritise the health, temperament, and welfare of their dogs by conducting extensive health testing, carefully selecting suitable mates, providing proper early socialisation and care, and offering lifetime support for every puppy we produce. At KooeeKeis, that’s the heart of what we do every single day.

Health First

Protecting the breed means protecting its health. All our breeding dogs are fully DNA tested through Orivet, hip and elbow scored, and cleared for hereditary conditions.

Ethical breeders leave nothing to chance — they perform both genetic and physical screenings for breed-specific issues and share those results openly. Every KooeeKeis puppy leaves with a Lifetime Genetic Health Guarantee, because we stand firmly behind the dogs we raise and the care we take in every pairing.

Temperament Matters

A beautiful coat and colour are lovely, but for us, temperament is king. We select breeding pairs for their kindness, intelligence, and intuitive nature — the very traits that make Australian Cobberdogs such exceptional companions and therapy dogs.

Each puppy is individually assessed and personality matched to the right family, ensuring the best possible fit so both pup and people thrive together. We never breed for fashion or fad — only for the heart and soul of the breed.

Raised With Family Love

Our puppies aren’t raised in kennels — they’re raised in our families arms, in our home, and within the loving homes of our wonderful Guardian Families. From the very first day, our pups are surrounded by gentle handling, everyday household sounds, and plenty of love.

We use Early Neurological Stimulation (ENS) and Early Scent Introduction (ESI), introduce puppies to over 80 sights, sounds, and experiences, and start early crate training, potty training, and chew-toy training. By the time they go home, they’re confident, well-socialised, and already learning the foundations of family life.

Focus On Puppy Care & Socialisation

Our puppies receive the very best start — premium nutrition, regular vet visits, and all age-appropriate vaccinations and worming. They’re raised in a clean, secure environment designed for comfort and learning, with separate play and toileting areas to encourage good habits.

We introduce them to children, visitors, and other pets to help them grow into well-rounded, emotionally balanced young dogs. The result? Calm, confident companions ready to take on the world — or at least your lounge room!

Guardian Families

Our breeding dogs live full, happy lives as cherished family members in their own Guardian Homes. This approach means our dogs enjoy individual attention, family life, and adventures — while still contributing to the future of the breed. It’s our way of keeping our breeding program small, ethical, and community-focused.

Commitment to Our Owners and Dogs

Thorough Buyer Screening:
We get to know each family through our Waitlist Application process, asking about your home, lifestyle, and experience. This helps us ensure every puppy is perfectly matched to its forever family. If we feel it’s not the right fit, we’re honest about that — because our puppies’ happiness always comes first.

Lifetime Responsibility:
When you bring home a KooeeKeis puppy, you join our extended family. We’re here to provide ongoing support and advice for grooming, training, and Cobberdog care — whether it’s months or years down the track.

Lifetime Genetic Health Guarantee:
Our health guarantee includes a clause that if life ever changes and you can’t keep your dog, they must be returned to us. This ensures no KooeeKeis Cobberdog ever ends up in a shelter or uncertain situation.

Transparency & Integrity

We believe in honesty, openness, and education.

We’re proud members of the Master Dog Breeders & Associates (MDBA), Member Number: 21937, and our dogs are registered on the official Australian Cobberdog Stud Registry. There are no shortcuts or automatic approvals — every dog must meet strict standards before entering our breeding program.

We openly share our testing results, contracts, and policies, and we welcome families to visit us and meet our dogs in person. Our pricing policy is clear, and our commitment is lifelong.

Breed Knowledge & Professional Standards

As passionate advocates for the Australian Cobberdog, we stay up to date with the breed’s development, genetics, and temperament goals. We collaborate with other reputable breeders and adhere to RightPaw’s Verified Ethical Standards and the MDBA Code of Ethics, ensuring our program aligns with the highest professional standards.  Visit our “Australian Cobberdog Information Hub”, affectionately known as Cobberdog Corner.

At KooeeKeis, we’re not just raising puppies — we’re raising future family members. We promise honesty, integrity, and lifelong support for both our dogs and their families.
