KooeeKeis Australian Cobberdogs ~ Ethical Family Breeder in WA
At KooeeKeis Australian Cobberdogs, our family reared puppies are lovingly raised inside our home as part of our everyday life. From the moment they are born, our puppies are surrounded by warmth, structure, gentle handling and real household experiences. Our family reared puppies are never raised in outdoor kennels, sheds or isolated facilities. They grow in the heart of our home, where they belong.
The early weeks of a puppy’s life are critical. From just three weeks of age, puppies enter a sensitive socialisation period that shapes their future confidence, temperament and emotional resilience. Because puppies typically go home at eight weeks, the breeder carries enormous responsibility during this developmental window. This is why raising family reared puppies in a nurturing home environment is so important to us.
The study was conducted in Poland and included 44 litters, totalling 264 puppies.
160 puppies were raised indoors within family homes
104 puppies were raised in outdoor kennel environments
All breeders were small-scale and registered with Fédération Cynologique Internationale (FCI). Large-scale commercial breeders and puppy farms were not included.
At 7–8 weeks of age, puppies were assessed using the Puppy Aptitude Test (PAT), which measures sociability, confidence, adaptability and responses to new stimuli.
The results showed that puppies raised indoors demonstrated significantly lower fear responses and greater resilience when introduced to unfamiliar situations. There were no behavioural differences between males and females, and 21 different breeds were represented in the study.
The conclusion aligns beautifully with our philosophy: family reared puppies raised in the home have behavioural advantages during early development.

At KooeeKeis Australian Cobberdogs, raising family reared puppies is not simply a phrase — it is our standard of care.
We proudly:
Raise every litter inside our family home
Provide structured early neurological enrichment
Expose puppies to age-appropriate sounds and sensory experiences
Introduce problem-solving and confidence-building exercises
Complete Puppy Aptitude Testing on every puppy
Carefully match each puppy to the right family
Our goal is to produce emotionally balanced, intuitive and socially confident Australian Cobberdogs who transition smoothly into their new homes.
Because our family reared puppies grow up surrounded by everyday life, they are better prepared for real-world environments. They are accustomed to movement, sound, routine and gentle human interaction long before they leave us.
While early breeder-led socialisation lays the foundation, continued exposure in your home is equally important.
We strongly recommend:
Enrolling in a reputable puppy preschool
Providing positive exposure to new people and environments
Continuing gentle confidence-building experiences
Supporting calm, structured learning
When breeder and family work together, family reared puppies develop into well-adjusted, confident adult dogs.
If you are searching for a puppy, always ask important questions:
Are the puppies truly raised inside the home?
Can I meet the dam in her living environment?
How are the puppies socialised before eight weeks?
Is temperament testing completed?
The raising environment during the first eight weeks influences lifelong behavioural patterns. Ethical breeders prioritise quality over quantity and focus on producing stable, confident companions.
