Your Puppy's First Bath, Groom & Clip

At KooeeKeis Australian Cobberdogs, we believe early positive experiences shape a confident, happy dog for life. That’s why every puppy receives their first gentle introduction to bathing, grooming and clipping before going to their new home.

Our goal is simple: when your puppy visits the groomer in the future, it should feel familiar, safe and stress-free.

Cobberdog Exercise & Enrichment Needs

A Gentle Introduction to Grooming

Before leaving KooeeKeis, your puppy will experience a kind, calm and sensitive introduction to the grooming process.

This includes:

  • A gentle bath using puppy-safe shampoo

  • Blow drying at a low, comfortable setting

  • A light introductory clip around the face, feet and hygiene areas

  • Calm handling of ears, paws and body brushing

These early experiences help puppies learn that grooming is simply part of everyday life.

By starting this process early, we help build confidence and trust, which makes future grooming appointments far easier for both puppy and groomer.

Bringing Your Cobberdog Puppy Home

Desensitising Your Puppy to Grooming Tools

In your KooeeKeis Puppy Pack, you will receive a small vibrating device.

This tool is incredibly helpful in preparing your puppy for future grooming clippers.

How to use it

Every evening:

  1. Turn the device on.

  2. Gently run it over your puppy’s:

    • shoulders

    • back

    • sides

    • legs

  3. Keep sessions short and calm (1–2 minutes is perfect).

Reward your puppy with praise or a small treat so the experience remains positive.

This simple routine helps desensitise your puppy to vibration, which is the same sensation they will feel during professional grooming.

Grooming Equipment We Recommend

Using quality grooming tools makes brushing easier and more comfortable for both you and your dog.

For professional grooming equipment, sharpening services, and high-quality tools, we recommend:

Oz Clipper & Scissor (WA) services Australia wide

They supply:

  • Professional clipper blades

  • Grooming scissors

  • Knife sharpening services

  • Equipment shipped Australia-wide

High-quality tools stay sharper longer and are far safer and more effective when maintaining a Cobberdog coat.

The beautiful coat of an Australian Cobberdog is one of the breed’s most loved features. However, it does require regular maintenance to keep it healthy and comfortable.

To maintain a well-kept coat, we recommend:

  • Professional grooming every 6–8 weeks

  • Brushing at least every second day

  • Regular coat checks to prevent matting

Without consistent grooming, the coat can become tight, uncomfortable and matted, which may require a full shave by a groomer.

Regular brushing keeps your Cobberdog’s coat:

Progroom Tangle Free Shampoo
Small dematting comb
High Velocity Dryer
Australian Cobberdog Flick Comb
Australian Cobberdog Easy Comb Detangler

Helping Your Puppy Love Grooming

One of the greatest gifts you can give your Cobberdog is confidence around grooming.

You can help by:

  • Handling their paws, ears and face regularly

  • Brushing calmly and consistently

  • Introducing grooming tools slowly

  • Keeping all grooming experiences positive and relaxed

With patience and consistency, your puppy will grow into a dog that stands happily for brushing and grooming.
